Dollhouse:

Going in with really really low expectations has helped. I'm rather enjoying it, thus far. However I would appreciate it if I didn't have to handwave every other plot element. Make it every third or every fourth! Just for a change! Seriously. WHY DOES THE DOLLHOUSE EXIST???

only minorly spoilery but I'm sure someone will be upset if I don't warn, so here I am warning )

In other news, my job right now resembles the pig lizard from Galaxy Quest post digitization, which is why I've been somewhat MIA. I sense a big long ranty post on the subject in my near future.

Fandom March Madness is making me sad. HOW could Aeryn LOSE??? DOES NO ONE KNOW HOW AWESOME SHE IS??? Do I need to picspam??? Additionally, Blair Waldorf needs to kick Seth Cohen's whiny little ass.

FINALLY: I have a new layout! Grace helped me. Isn't it pretty???

DUDE. Watched the first four minutes of Lie to Me. This is awesome! I just read about ALL this stuff in Blink (wonderful book btw totally recommend it). Microexpressions, way to tell if a relationship is dissolving, even Kato snarling like a dog - all right there!

Having looked into both Runaways and Fables I am now seriously wanting to collect some comics. I blame [info]spectralbovine. And my mom.

My little brother might be getting a job working a bookstore coffeeshop. A potential discount to take advantage of without the constant temptation to spend my entire paycheck on all the pretty books around me? This is the dream.

You know, as bad as it is to get an irritating song stuck in one's head, I have to think it's worse to get one that you really dare not sing in public. I'm talking about songs like "Everyone's a little bit racist", "Springtime for Hitler", any of musical theater's ginormous slut songs (read - the ones in my register because everyone knows that mezzo-sopranos are whores). Songs that are frequently quite catchy, totally fun to sing, but... desperately need some context.

I only mention this because I spent most of yesterday singing bits from Osama! The Musical.

I don't even WANT to know what my coworkers thought.

Reactions to the new season (and new cast) of Skins shall be posted sometime tonight.

While i am enjoying Leverage, I think I've reached the point where I need it to step up its game. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but at this point it's a frothy empty fun - a la Psych or Monk. And while I'm not dismissing frothy fun entirely, this show can so obviously be more - do more - and I want it to.

I'm ready for this show's DNA Mad Scientist (or Ariel, if you're a Firefly person). Right now things are just a little too hunky dory for all these criminals who work alone with no real ties to eachother.

And I'd like the stakes raised a bit. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the heists; but this is Buffy season one (minus Prophesy Girl) level of involvment. I want to be more invested. I want to see them actually fail on occasion. Shoot I'd like to see them make things worse. I'd like to see the little guy actually be the bad guy but Nathan's snowed because of his personal agenda.

The capers are fun - but I want more. Especially as it seems fairly clear that this show CAN bring it.
